Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself…

Jen

Sitting at a little wooden desk in a quiet corner of the Reading Room, head buried in a box of art from our collection, you can find me, the new Curatorial Graduate Trainee. I’m Jen, I’ve just graduated in Art History, and I’m the lucky blighter who gets to work on the digitization and management of our collection.

Much of my working week is spent rooting through storage boxes, scanning prints, photographs, drawings and watercolours, and uploading them to our online catalogue. I realise that may sound a little mundane, but au contraire! Every day something catches my eye that I’ve never seen before. Something bold, something beautiful or something downright bizarre…

Our mission is for you to be able to access the entire collection, even the most fragile stuff, from the comfort of your own home. So next time you’re sat racking your brain for ideas in the early hours of the morning, check out our online catalogue, and your artist’s block might just be resolved.

Over the next year I will be using this blog to share with you all the gems I find. If you ever want to see them up close (and I really recommend it), then don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll probably be there at my desk, head buried in a box of art. But I might just need a little tap on the shoulder.
